We'll cover two main topics in this article: new AZERO wallet setup and recovering your testnet AZERO wallet on the mainnet.

How to set up a new AZERO wallet?

To set up a new AZERO wallet on the mainnet, please ensure you're at:

That's the default view of Aleph Zero at mainnet.alephzero.org.

To create a new account, please:

  1. Proceed to the Accounts tab.

  2. Click on Add Account.

  3. You'll see your mnemonic seed. Save it in multiple secure locations to ensure you have access to your wallet.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions:

    1. Set a local name for your account.

    2. Choose a local password (it's only relevant for your current browser session).

    3. At the very last step, choose the correct location to save your backup .JSON files. They're an additional method of wallet recovery in case you'd lost your mnemonic seed phrase.

How to recover my testnet AZERO wallet on the mainnet?

The majority of support tickets we've been receiving have to do with recovering the wallets on the mainnet. Typically, a user would check their AZERO balance on the testnet instead of connecting to the mainnet.

To recover your AZERO wallet on the mainnet, make sure you're actually connected to the mainnet at:

The next steps to recover your wallet via mnemonic seed are the following:

  1. Proceed to the Accounts tab.

  2. Click on Add Account.

  3. Substitute the generic mnemonic seed phrase with your saved seed phrase.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions. Remember that the password that the system will ask you about is a local one; it's not your mnemonic seed but a local browser session password.

That concludes the wallet recovery via mnemonic seed.

You can also recover your wallet using the backup .JSON file. To do so, on the Accounts tab click on Restore JSON. The system will immediately ask you to either Click to select your file or Drag and drop your backup file. Please follow the on-screen instructions to finalize the process.
